なんと英語学習を始めてから4年の月日が経ってしまいました。
4年ってことは、中学を卒業して高校入学して今は高校2年生になったところです。
高2並の英語力、あるのでしょうか…
でもはっきり言えるのは、自分の高校時代よりは明らかに英語力ついてます。
高校時代は何を勉強してるのかさえわからないほど勉強してませんでしたから。

そんな私、22歳のときにオーストラリアで結婚式をあげたことがあります。
英語はまるっきりできないうえに初海外です。
なぜ海外挙式にしたかと言うと、ただ単に日本で普通の結婚式をしたくなかったから。
大げさにしたくなかったし、見世物になるのが嫌だったんです。(今思えば正解w)
両親すらいない二人っきりの挙式で、牧師さん(神父さんなのかな？)はもちろん外人さん。
そして誓いの言葉も英語で言わなくてはいけません。
出国前に何を言うのか教えてもらえなかったので、ぶっつけ本番。
一応教会に向かうリムジンの中で、日本人の案内人さん(立会人も兼ねている)が練習してくれたのですが、
もうさっぱりで自分が何を口から発しているかもわかってない状態。
本番でもボロボロで牧師さんに何回も同じフレーズを言わせちゃいました。
あれはかなり恥ずかしい体験でしたねー。
あちらの方からしたら、そんなんで海外挙式すんなよって思ったでしょうね。
自分、よくやったなって感じです

そんなわけで、帰国後、英語できるようになりたい！と思うようになりました。
でもどうやって勉強すればいいのかも知識がなく、なんとなく会話本を眺めてる程度でした。
その後の経過はコチラを見てのとおりです。

4年間学習してきて、初級レベルは身についている、と思います。(思いたい)
「ALL IN ONE Re-start」を半年間しっかりやったことが自信になってます。
「ALL IN ONE」で中級レベルを身につけたいと思っていた時期もあったのですが、
今は考えが変わりました。
試験を受けるわけでもないのに、使いもしない興味もない分野の単語など無理に覚えたくない。
文法や構文に関してはRe-startで扱ってる範囲で十分だと思うので、
(ちょっと高度になるとAIOで調べますが。)
あとは好きな分野やテーマのものを読んだり聞いたりしていけばいいかな、と思ってます。
(今はそれがチャロなんですよね♪)

英語やめようかなーって思った時期もありましたが、
これからもゆるく続けていこうと思います！

【キーフレーズ】

I brought you some great news.

Wait a minute.
これはツッコミの表現。Wait を高く、minute のところを低く落とす。
もちろん「待ってて」という意味にも使える。

Charo, you hop onto the right boat, cross the ocean, and you'll be in Japan. Just like that.
「命令文　and　主語　＋　動詞」　(…しなさい、そうすれば〜です。)　
　手順を述べたり、相手の行動の結果について予想や忠告をする
Just like that.　＝　It's very quick and easy.
　しばしば指をパチンと鳴らすジェスチャーとともに使われる。

you are so small you can easily sneak in.
「so　＋　形容詞または副詞　＋　(that)　〜」　(とても…なので〜だ)
例)　He was so sweet everybody liked him.

Wait a minute. Where can he find the right boat?
That, we have to figure out.
That, we have to figure out.　＝　We have to figure that out.　thatが強調されて前に出ている。
figure out　…「計算する、理解する、解決する」といった意味で、find out よりも頭を使う複雑な事柄がかかわるときに使われる。

make it　＝　succeed

She couldn't believe Dread's being so unplanned.

That's the spirit, boy!
spirit　…精神、魂、心、元気、意気
Attaboy! / Attagirl!　(よくやった！)　＝That's the boy/girl!

Way up there.
way には「道」「方法」以外に、「ずっと」という意味もある。
That's too long. は「それじゃ長すぎます。」
That's way too long. は「それじゃまったく長すぎます。」

They ran ahead to the pier where the big white boat was staying.

It's got to be a Japanese boat.
It's got to be は It has got to be のつまった形。
It has to be と意味は同じ。そして It has to be は It must be と同じ。

likely　(ありりそうな)
the least likely...　(〜しそうにない…)
例) You are the least likely person to lose a key.

keep 〜ing　(…し続ける)
例)　The phone kept ringing.
on　を加えると、「続けた」ことが強調され、ときにはほのかなイライラや不安が表現できる。
例) the phone kept on ringing. / She kept on sleeping.

ナルニア(「The Chronicles of Narnia」)の2作目「Prince Caspian」を読み終わりました。
正直むずかしかったです。後半は特に。
映画やココを見てなかったから、半分以上は理解できてなかったでしょうね。
3作目の「The Voyage of the Dawn Treader」に進む勇気が出ません。
とりあえず1〜2作目を読んで満足したので、ナルニア原書読みは一旦休止です。

　　

DVDもいろいろ出ていて、本編のみの1枚組、特典ディスク1枚付きのコレクターズエディション、特典ディスク3枚付きのエクステンデッドエディションがあります。
あまり評価よくなかったけれどここはやっぱりとエクステンデッドエディションを購入しました。
ナルニアの映像世界に浸って楽しんでます。

【キーフレーズ】

That's mine.　…「私のもの」と所有だけが前面に押し出されかなりダイレクト。言い方によってはきつい印象になる。

What can a small puppy like you do to a big girl like me?
形容詞は名詞の前に置く。　small puppy, big girl
形容詞句は名詞の後ろに置く。 girl like me
例) I have a bag just like hers.


I've never seen any dog like you in Japan.
「それ（前に）見たことあるよ」は I've seen it.
「一度も見たことはない」はI've never seen it.
例) This is the first time I've ever seen a dog llke you.

You're from another country?
自分が得た情報から推測して「私の理解に間違いないかしら」と聞く。Are you...?の文にするより感じが出る。

Foreign dogs that I know are big. and their fur seems.... different.
seem (…のように思われる)　視覚に加えて何か感じるところがあるときに使う

I'd better get going.
get going　…goやstartとほぼ同じ意味。これから動き出そうとする感じが強い
例)　Let's get going.

Shota and I are best friends, too.
Oh, well, good for you...
Good for you.　…達成されたことが本人のためになる意味での「よかったね」
Good job.　…与えられた試練や仕事をよくぞ成功させたという意味合いのねぎらいの言葉

He was explaining to somebody how he had met Shota.

→I thought I was dying, when Shota came again with a sausage.
when…関係副詞の非制限用法

Shota picked me up and took me home. He wanted to keep me.
keep　…状態を維持する意味合いが強い
I have a dog.　(私は犬を飼っています。)

You're a noisy one, even when you're asleep.
「寝ていてもうるさい」と言うときは、evenが必要。
be asleep　…眠っている状態を表す
I was sleeping. / I was asleep. 　(眠っていました)

Shota did everything for me. Now, I will do everything to go back to Shota.

He promised himself.

I can do it. Yes, I can. And I have to. I have to get back home.

毎週チャロの金曜日のラジオドラマを保存版として録音してたのですが、
やむを得ずパソコンの再インストールしたので、バックアップしてなかったエピソード10以降が消えてしまいました。
ショックーーーと少し落ち込んだのですが、よく考えたら、次から次と毎週新しいエピソードが始まるので、前の分を聞き返す余裕ってないんですよね。
前にテキストのことでも書いたけど、後からやり直すことって多分ないと思うんです。
NHKのことだから、あとでまとめ本やCDを発売するだろうから、もし欲しくなればそれを買えばいいことなので、自分で録音して保存版を作らなくてもいいやって思いました。
そう思ったらなんだかすごく気が楽になりました。
これからはストリーミングだけ聞けばいいや〜って。

さて、今夜は1時からテレビでチャロのダイジェスト版の再放送を見よっと。

最近チャロとナルニア読書の他にやってる英語学習は、
『サンフランシスコトラベル英会話スクール』という無料のオンラインの講座です。
サンフランシスコの観光スポットを舞台にしたスキットでトラベル英会話が学べます。
4月のサンフランシスコ旅行の前にこのサイトを知ったのですが、その時は無料ではなく有料でしかも受講料は1万円を越えてました。
旅行前でガイド的にも魅力でしたが、受講料が高かったので見送りました。
きっと受講者が少なかったので方針を変えて無料にしたのでしょうねぇ。
音声のダウンロードは3500円と有料になってますが、無料でもちゃんと聴けるので問題ありません。
もうちょっとナレーションがナチュラルだとよかったのですが。
毎日2スキットずつ学習しています。
サンフランシスコ旅行の思い出の余韻に浸りながら学習できて楽しいです。
また行きたいなぁ〜

sweet　(思いやりがある)　kindやniceより少しだけ親しみを込めた感じがする

There were several things missing.

still　…文の頭に出てきてコンマがつくと「それでも、それにもかかわらず」という意味になる
